»» RITSH's promotion event in Portugal

On the 10th of November, Riding Together - Solidarity on Horseback was presented at Todos a Galope Equestrian Centre (TaG), located at Monsanto Forest Park, in Lisbon. The panel of speakers was formed by representatives of RITSH’s international and national partners, namely Joana Moreira (TaG’s President), José Sá Fernandes (City Councilor for Green Structure and Energy) Salvador Simó (Researcher at University of Vic – Central University of Catalonia) and Isabel Bucho (Special Education Teacher at Casa Pia de Lisboa, a Public Institute under the tutelage of the Portuguese Ministry of Labour and Social Solidarity). This public event was dedicated to the promotion of Riding Together - Solidarity on Horseback and gathered dozens of people, mainly local stakeholders.
»» Training programme 3 at IFCE
RITSH's Training Programme 3 took place from the 31st of August to the 9th of September at The Institute Français du cheval et de l'Equitation (IFCE). This training was dedicated to acquiring skills and competencies for planning, delivering and assessing horse mediated activities, in particular: understanding the concept, principles, applications and challenges of equine mediation; knowing how to apply the behaviour of the horse in an equine mediation session; and developing one’s horsemanship tools to safely conduct horse mediated sessions, namely by developing concentration and listening capacities using relaxation and psycho-sensorial awakening.

Meet our team: Monique Le Bon

Monique is an expert in horse mediated activities and social inclusion through horses. She has both academic training and vast professional experience in equestrian sciences, horseback riding and horse-mediated inclusion techniques. Within RITSH, Monique is a consultant for the inclusion strategies, contributing to the assessment for the general social inclusion model and to the development of the inclusion programs in each of the partners that are developing a pilot.  

RITSH’s Intermediate Meeting

Riding Together - Solidarity on Horseback’s Intermediate Meeting took place at RITSH’s coordinator’s headquarters, Todos a Galope Equestrian Centre in Lisbon, between the 8th and the 10th of November, gathering the representatives from this international partnership. The meeting was an important opportunity to make a balance of the work accomplished so far and prepare the next steps of the project.

In October, Todos a Galope (TaG) initiated a program of Equine-assisted therapy (EAT) sessions. EAT is an integrated intervention program that uses the horse, the basic concepts of riding and the theoretical-practical elements of rehabilitation, with an interdisciplinary approach, in order to improve the neuromotor, cognitive and psychosocial development of people with disabilities or special needs.
